La Poya in a nutshell
My name is Maud, and I am the director of the small ski resort of La Poya. The resort is managed by the local council. The team consists of Jérémy Vallas, president of the council and mayor of Vallorcine, David Guillot, operations manager, Joël Bulliani, deputy operations manager, as well as two ski patrollers and perchmen. We are employed by the municipality and all work towards the same goal: to offer a welcoming and safe space on a human scale.
I have been working in the region for several seasons. La Poya is one of those places where you naturally feel at home: the atmosphere is friendly, the regulars come back every winter and the teams are very close-knit.
The history of La Poya
La Poya is a small village ski resort that has undergone several phases of management over the years. Today, it is once again run by the local council. This allows us to maintain a close relationship with residents and visitors alike. The resort has always been a place of learning: many families come here so their children can put on their first skis, earn their first stars and discover the joys of skiing in a safe environment.
Must-see attractions in La Poya
What makes La Poya unique is its friendly and accessible atmosphere. Events not to be missed include the torchlight descents organised on Thursdays during the school holidays. These are eagerly awaited moments that bring holidaymakers and locals together in a warm atmosphere. The resort is also an ideal place for beginners and families staying in the valley.
Memorable days at La Poya
The strongest memories are often linked to busy days. When there are a lot of people on the slopes, everyone has to be extremely vigilant. These are intense moments, when the team is very focused on ensuring safety, but also very proud to see the resort in full swing.
Future projects
To date, no major new projects have been announced. The priority remains to run the resort as efficiently as possible, maintain the quality of the welcome and preserve the family spirit that defines La Poya.
Her favourite spot in the Trient Valley
My favourite spot in the Trient Valley, on the Swiss side, is the Gorges Mystérieuses. I love this place for its wild and spectacular nature.
