Concert for all ages. Introduction to the harp. Families welcome.
Céline Gay des Combes, from Switzerland, and Lindsay Buffington, from the United States, met at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lausanne, where they both studied in Chantal Mathieu-Balavoine's class.
After graduating, their passion for chamber music, musical and personal affinities, complementary personalities and desire to become one with their two uniquely coloured instruments, as well as a nod to the harps of the symphony orchestra, led them to give free rein to their imagination and create ‘Deux En Harpe’ in June 2008, building a small bridge between America and Switzerland.
In July 2009, they performed live on Radio Suisse Romande's ‘Espace 2’ as part of the programme ‘Masters on the Airwaves’, and went on to perform both in Switzerland and abroad, notably at the Arts Club in Washington, An die Musik in Baltimore, Bargemusic in Brooklyn, New York, and Les Samedis Musicaux in Prades, France.
They were invited to the ‘Le Bois qui chante’ festival in Château d'Oex in autumn 2011 and also performed as soloists in J.S. Bach's ‘Concerto for 4 Harpsichords’ with the Praeclassica Orchestra in Geneva.
In July 2011, sharing a love of dance, rhythm and joie de vivre, they chose a joyful and lively programme for the recording of their first CD, Pas de Deux Harpistique.
In recent seasons, the duo has performed at the Lucerne Harp Festival, the Lyceum Club Lausanne, the ‘Orgues, au Musiques et Cimes’ festival in Valais, ‘Moments musicaux’ in Combloux, France, ‘Kultur i de Braui’ in Hochdorf and the Victoria Hall in Geneva.
